Education is a key factor in expanding your capabilities to offer life settlements to senior clientele. In the development of a compliant and competitive environment, education leads to a very successful settlement practice.
Agent Media Corporation in conjunction with the Life Insurance Settlement Association (LISA) conducted the third annual survey on life settlements and published the results in the March 2008 issue of Agent’s Sales Journal. The results of the survey reinforce the positive view held by insurance agents of the settlement industry, and underscore the need for education and marketing resources.
Two-thirds of those surveyed see life settlements as a valuable planning tool; 79 percent stated that they would discuss settlements with their clients and 75 percent have senior clients whose needs have changed. However, only 35 percent stated that they have actually completed a settlement transaction mainly due to the lack of knowledge and marketing resources.
While the survey results showed some improvement in industry awareness from last year, we believe there is still much to be done. That is why LSS brings you the third annual Life Settlement Awareness Month – the 30-day culmination of its year-long educational efforts.
